C-5 Aircraft Teardown and Data Management for Fleet Sustainment

Customer: U.S. Air Force

S&K Engineering and Research provided comprehensive engineering and program management support for the U.S. Air Force’s C-5 aircraft viability program. This initiative was designed to support environmental assessment, fleet sustainment, and ensure mission readiness for the aging fleet.

As part of the project, the team oversaw the disassembly, inspection, and analysis of a retired C-5A aircraft (69-0004) and provided these services:

  • Program Management
  • Engineering Support
  • Subcontractor Management
  • Airframe Disassembly
  • Coating Removal
  • Component Inspection
  • Documentation
  • Database Development

S&K Engineering and Research compiled all testing results from these inspections to allow for in-depth evaluation by the program team. To streamline the review process, the findings were organized in an interactive, web-accessible database, enabling efficient reporting and easy access for the program’s stakeholders. This ensured accurate documentation and facilitated data-driven decisions to support the program’s objectives.
